Anti-Catholic Cartoon Targets the Pope

Le Monde Magazine
in France published a cartoon showing the “Pope” sodomizing a little boy.

PROTEST HERE

The vile cartoon appeared in the Holy Week issue of the Le Monde Magazine. The author, Jean Plantu, is known for his blasphemous insults against the Church and the Pope. However, this might be the first time an insult against the Pope has reached this extreme.

TFP Student Action chose not to reprint a copy of the cartoon because it is simply beyond the pale.

Click here to send a peaceful protest to Le Monde Magazine

Last year, Le Monde published a Plantu cartoon showing Our Lord Jesus Christ handing out condoms from a boat to the excited masses. The cartoon read: “The multiplication of the condoms followed the multiplication of the loaves.” That cartoon hit the Pope too. He was shown as a decrepit old man who says: “Anything goes!”

So, the most recent cartoon against the Pope in Le Monde Magazine is not an isolated case. It is part of a series. That is why it is important for us to raise a powerful yet peaceful protest against Le Monde.

PROTEST HERE

TFP Student Action’s protest message to Le Monde reads as follows:

To Le Monde Magazine:
Email: courrier-lemondemag@lemonde.fr

I am deeply pained, more than words can express, to know that your magazine published a sacrilegious cartoon showing the Pope sodomizing a little boy. I do not accept this indecent insult to the Pope. This is beyond the pale!

As the Vicar of Our Lord Jesus Christ on earth, the person of the Pope is sacred. And he teaches the holy and eternal truths taught by Holy Mother Church, which is absolutely against all sin, especially unnatural vice.

I demand that you apologize for the Jean Plantu cartoon and pledge never to publish such terribly insulting material again.

The reason why it is a preconceived notion that this sort of thing is acceptable to do to Catholics is because we are not know as a religious people that we almost always react violently as the Extremist Muslim community has proven itself to be.
NOTE: I have no issues with the religion of Islam, for I am not properly educated in that faith. But I will ALWAYS do what I can within the confines of the Laws of God & the laws of the land to stand against those who bring destruction, fear, and death to other peoples as a means of putting their faith into action. In God we trust. Amen.

THESE PEOPLE, IF YOU CAN CALL THEM THAT NEED TO GET DOWN ON THEIR KNEES AND APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT THEY DID. THE POPE IS A HOLY MAN AND THE
VICAR OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH AND A GODLY MAN, AND TO STOOP SO LOW TO PUBLISH SUCH DEVILISH
NASTY THINGS AS THEY DID SORT OF MAKES MY STOMACH TURN. THERE WILL BE A SECOND COMING AND THEN THAT IS WHEN THEY WILL ANSWER TO THE
GOD ALMIGHTY AND THE HIGH PRIEST. THANK YOU.

Its amazing how the Pope has been tried and convicted by the press and people without any trial. If the press really wanted the truth, it would actually talk to the panel of people who were involved, but to date have refused to talk to those who were actually there. While they're at it, they could blame Obama for all the sexual abuse which is happening daily in our public schools right now, and blame themselves for ignoring present day sexual abuse. Instead they focus on the pope who, had nothing to do with whether or not to remove that predator priest from his post. Action was being taken. A more honest action by the press would be to blame law and lawyers and courts which made the church jump through hoops to try to remove these predators. Blaming the wrong guy won't cause the hurt to go away, it just makes everything worse.

This is the absolute ultimate of how far evil will go -- this man and his paper should be sued... this is defamation and every Catholic and Christian should be outraged...
Evil is on the attack, make no mistake...
The time to stand up for all those who bear the name Christian is here... we need to be more than ever the Militant Church on earth...the soldiers of Christ.

But Jesus has already won as He is Risen and each one will stand before Him one day and answer for their crimes... and their hate.

People like this do what they did to either get a reaction or to push their God-given freedom to the limits because, well, they can. Perhaps in the first place they don't believe that free will is given by God. Perhaps they don't even believe in God. After all, anyone who does would not go to such extremes but practise self-restraint against his own inclinations. God gives us free will. Even despite the capability of man/woman to use it against Him. When we remember this, we remember also what a great God we have. We must do our duty (not even religious but MORAL duty) to protest against such acts not only because it is wrong but because it sends the wrong message to less informed people. Then we should, hard as it may be, pray for such people (even if they lash out at us for being patronising) to experience God Himself, so they will SEE. And believe.

Remember, we all stand before God and answer for our actions.

Go in Peace.

God gave us the freedom to choose, do not take it for granted. If you don't believe in God or you are not God fearing this is also not the way to live your life. If you don't respect one another how do you want others to respect you. If you want fame, this is not the way to get it.

Why don't you do a similar cartoon against the Muslims and see how that goes over?

How insulting and scandalous can you get allowing a scoundrel like Jean Plantu cause your magazine to fall into such disrepute?

Drop him from your employment immediately and stop any further slander against Pope Benedict XVI !

Both the author of the cartoon and the paper itself need to apologize and realize the evil of this action. Truly an evil action and one that needs to be amended. I hope all subscribers to the newspaper boycott it from now on. No religion should be so defiled like that.

This is clearly an act of hate and prejudice and the spirit of the cartoonist is a spirit of division and pride... perhaps he should also include all the counselors, doctors, teachers, youth leaders and scouts and regular people who have been doing violence to children behind doors and which we never hear about! Who are you Mr.Plantu? With what authority do you speak? Have you met Pope Benedict XVI? Have you ever read his writings or read about his life? Are you trying to discredit someone just because he is not pleasing to you for personal reasons? Do you realize how much you are discrediting the magazine you work for when you say things that have no foundation and are backed up by false information?

We demand not only an apology for this extremely disturbing act of artist's interpretation, but also highly recommend this cartoonist be released from his contract with your company. May God forgive you for ever even considering publishing such a disgusting cartoon.

May God have the mercy to forgive you (LeMonde). Your 'artistic interpretation' has gone extremely over the line. I find it hard to believe you would even employ such a person & strongly urge you to release him of his contract with your company.

We, too, demand and expect your magazine to publish a retraction condemning the Jean Plantu cartoon and apologizing humbly for blaspheming and disrespecting the Successor of St.Peter, chosen by Jesus Christ to lead His church on earth. God will not be mocked. "Vengeance is Mine," saith the Lord.
