Catholic Marquette University Hires Partial Birth Abortion Politician

Pro-abortion
Sen. Feingold
Despite his 100% pro-abortion record from NARAL, the former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold was invited to join the faculty of Marquette University, a Catholic institution, as a visiting professor of law.  The event is understandably causing scandal.

sign-the-protest

According to the record, Senator Feingold not only supported the grisly procedure known as partial birth abortion but also favors same-sex “marriage” and embryonic stem cell destruction.

However, Marquette Law School Dean Joseph D. Kearney attempts to explain the appointment away: “While I do not doubt that some of his views are controversial, or, still less, suggest that all of them are right, an institution of legal education is especially well suited to explore multiple dimensions of such issues.”

Students naturally look up to their teachers and teachers who support the killing of innocent unborn children – as is the case here – are inappropriate educational role models in any school, not to mention a Catholic university.

Feingold’s appointment seems to brush aside the words of Pope Benedict XVI to Catholic educators delivered at the Catholic University of America in 2008:

Marquette University
Ask Marquette University to
reverse its decision.  Sign the
protest here
“Teachers and administrators, whether in universities or schools, have the duty and privilege to ensure that students receive instruction in Catholic doctrine and practice. This requires that public witness to the way of Christ, as found in the Gospel and upheld by the Church's Magisterium, shapes all aspects of an institution's life, both inside and outside the classroom.”

Please voice your peaceful protest politely yet firmly:

Dear Fr. Wild and Mr. Kearney,
Russ Feingold is a prominent politician who does not fully support our Catholic ideals. Abortion is wrong and is a prominent issue for Catholics. Please reconsider your invitation to teach in your Catholic institution.

Marquette University's leaders must be ignorant of the massive decrease in donations by Notre Dame alum to their school -- multi millions of dollars -- because of Notre Dame's ill-advised presentation of a Law degree to pro-abortion Pres. Obama. May Marquette suffer the same consequences. Amen.

Ecumenism aside, Catholic universities should not have non-Catholic instructors. I had a Jew professor at Loyola U. in L.A. in 1950 who kept trying to get me to transfer to his alma mater where my studies would not require religion and philosophy courses. He said I was being stunted by the requirement of taking non-major Catholic courses.

Dear Father wild and Mr. Kearney,
Mr. Feingold does not seem to support the ideals of a Catholic university. I am a proud graduate of a Catholic University and do not understand how you can hire him for a position in your school. Surely there are other candidates who could serve your students and our Church in a more fitting manner.

Oh My, I almost chuckled if it wasn't so incredibly wrong. Feingold, lets see he is Jewish not Catholic, he is Pro Abortion not Pro Life, supports many morals and ideals that are in extreme conflict with Catholic Teachings. Maybe Bishop Sample will take some action. I will be contacting their office. This is so bad and so wrong, I hope you are not getting money from the Catholic church.

If he teaches law, would he not in all likelihood expound on why Roe v Wade decision is "sound" and "proper"? Don't students and instructors ever have conversations outside of the classroom where he can ease his views into the intellectual ferment of the young mind? Are there no other acceptable, well-credentialed candidates for this post? I would not want a student in my family continually exposed to his apparent belief that the courts can decide the legality of a situation based on the social attitudes of its members. He will be presented and considered as a top mind in legal thinking, and I believe this whole area shows fuzzy, biased and manipulated thought. I would not oppose his being a speaker at one particular class meeting to explain his view of things: it could be very useful. But the Church should not choose him to be a potent and prime instrument in the formation of a new generation of Catholic legal minds.

The hiring of Feingold it is quite the insult to Marquette's remaining Catholicism. The hiring of any individual who espouses a legal opinion that is contrary to the natural law is egregious and doubly so when the individual is hired to teach law at a Catholic university. Such is the case with Feingold. Abortion and active support of it are not things to be taken lightly, though that is obvious what Marquette is doing here.

It is scandalous and shameful, though I think Marquette knows that as the news of the hiring of Feingold is not mentioned in the Alumni Newsletter for January 2011

Has Marquette university lost their faith. How can you even consider Russ Feingold for a position on your staff with his pro abortion voting record. There are plenty of pro life individuals who are more qualified for the position on your staff. Please reconsider what you are doing before it is too late.

Shame on YOU, Partial birth supporters are the WORST of the Pro-Abortionist, other than the Drs. who perform them. This is a Catholic University, please reconsider and find a person with better morals!! Sincerely, Margo Frommeyer

As an alumni of Marquette U. I am appalled, saddened and disgraced with the administration's decision to employ Feingold. Marquette is a disgrace to CATHOLIC education.

God's fifth commandment: You shall not kill.

Russ Feingold doesn't understand this and therefore has no place at Marquette University (or any other Catholic institution)!

This action of hiring an 'habitual child murderer for hire' supporter for faculty is not causing a scandal, but instead IS a scandal. Word your articles right!!

What is it that Marquette hopes its students will learn from Russ Feingold, who believes that a woman should have the legal right to kill her unborn child -- moral law? Marquette students will surely not be receiving a Catholic education!
