Protest this pro-homosexual "concert" at the Catholic College of Saint Rose

The College of Saint Rose under the Sisters of Saint Joseph appears to place the “tolerance” of grave error above its Catholic identity.  On June 16, the college plans to welcome the Albany Gay Men’s Chorus for a performance titled “Born This Way.” [link]

The event is scheduled at the Massry Center for the
Arts at the Catholic College of Saint Rose in New York.
“Born This Way” is a promiscuous song by Lady Gaga designed to shatter common decency and offend God.  It is a flat denial of the truth:  “From the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female” (Mark 10:6).

The Catholic Medical Association confirms:  There is no “homosexual gene.”

“The media have promoted the idea that a ‘gay gene’ has already been discovered…but, in spite of several attempts, none of the much-publicized studies… has been scientifically replicated. A number of authors have carefully reviewed these studies and found that not only do the studies not prove a genetic basis for same-sex attraction; the reports do not even contain such claims…

“If same-sex attraction were genetically determined, then one would expect identical twins to be identical in their sexual attractions. There are, however, numerous reports of identical twins who are not identical in their sexual attractions.”
(Homosexuality & Hope)

However, the stated purpose of the pro-homosexual chorus is “to promote pride in and acceptance of the gay community.”

Reprehensible as it is, this event is not the College of Saint Rose’s only act of cooperation with the homosexual agenda.  The college’s Office of Intercultural Leadership and Identity has hosted an annual “Lavender Reception” to give special recognition to LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered) graduates.  Lavender, they explain, is a “color of pride” for the “LGBT civil rights movement.” If that wasn’t bad enough, the college also recognizes the pro-homosexual student group Identity on campus, one among 107 such groups found on Catholic campuses.

Surely it is inappropriate for a Catholic college to cooperate in the promotion of a lifestyle the Church defines as gravely disordered.  As a Catholic educational institution, we hope Saint Rose cancels the objectionable event.

It is utterly shameful that any so-called "Catholic" school would have anything whatsoever to do with sodomy. It is shameful that you have invited an openly-sodomite, pro-mortal sin group to your campus. Rescind the invitation and cancel the concert immediately!

Catholic Universities have a responsibility to our young people to promote and uphold the sacred scripture, traditions and the Magesterial teachings of our Catholic faith, to do otherwise is directly defying the Roman Catholic Church. Not to mention, doing a great disservice to our young people by exposing their souls to scandalizing behavior. Cancel this concert immediately!!

I just spoke with Debra in the president's office. She said they are not a Catholic College. They have Catholic roots but are now independent. I am not sure they are under the magistarium of the church. She also said that school is not in session now. St. Rose did not contract with this group. They are renting the space. It would be good to find out what, if any, responsibilities St. Rose has to Catholic doctrine.

I am sorry either you are Catholic or you're not. If the college no longer wants to be identified "Catholic" then it would be wise to have "Catholic" removed from it's name/title. Otherwise you are being deceitful and quite frankly dishonest to those students who attend thinking that it is a Catholic college. As far as the gay men's concert...just because school is not in session and the group is "renting space" does not excuse culpability of St. Rose Catholic college. They are still choosing to have this event held at the college...using wonderfully stated semantics does not change the facts. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck...it's a duck.

Students don't attend because they "think it's a catholic college." The information saying the school is "non-denominational" is there for every applicant to see. I AM a catholic (who attended the school for OTHER reasons), and you are making me ashamed to say that I am catholic. Get your facts straight before you start trashing a reputable institution. "Catholic" is also not listed in "The College of St. Rose." Again, your ignorance caused you to overlook the name of the school.

I think that TFP needs to learn more about the College of St. Rose because even in the 1980s when I earned a certificate there, the college was already secular. The college name is Catholic, but the college is not Catholic anymore.

Did the Sisters of St. Joseph renounce their Catholic affiliation too?
No? Well then the institutions they control are still Catholic, and are responsible for the Orthodoxy of their practices.

Saint Rose is listed in the Catholic directory as a Catholic college. In addition, it is also listed by the Sisters of Saint Joseph, since the college apparently operates under their Order. To brush the event aside because the space is being rented is a lame excuse. Keep the pressure on!
