12 Shocking Quotes: "Marriage Equality" Spells the Death of Marriage

By John Ritchie
Destruction of the family

The runaway train of the sexual revolution will not stop at same-sex "marriage."  Just as civil unions were a mere stepping stone to reach same-sex "marriage," the movement to redefine marriage will continue on its reckless course until it shatters the concept of true marriage and family.  But don't take my word for it.  See what pro-homosexual writers, professors and activists say for themselves.  It's a real eye-opener.

As the Supreme Court ponders the future of marriage, every defender of God-ordered marriage can use the following quotes to unmask the final goal of the so-called "marriage equality" movement.  [emphasis in bold is mine]

Death of marriage = "progress"

1. "Opting out of marriage altogether will provide a quicker path to progress, as only the death of marriage can bring about the dawn of equality for all."
-- Dr. Meagan Tyler,
Lecturer in Sociology at Victoria University

Who needs marriage anymore
2. "The real question that should be debated is not whether gay marriage should be allowed, but rather, is marriage really something we need anymore?"
-- David Vakalis

Redefine the institution
3.  "A middle ground might be to fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits and then, once granted, redefine the institution of marriage completely, to demand the right to marry not as a way of adhering to society’s moral codes but rather to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution. [Legalizing "same-sex marriage"] is also a chance to wholly transform the definition of family in American culture.”
-- Michelangelo Signorile,
OUT magazine, December/January 1994

We are advocating destruction
4.  "And after all, we are advocating the destruction of the centrality of marriage and the nuclear family unit... ."
-- Ryan Conrad

Next step: Abolish
5.  "But perhaps the next step isn’t to, once again, expand the otherwise narrow definition of marriage but to altogether abolish the false distinction between married families and other equally valid but unrecognized partnerships."
-- Sally Kohn,
Prop 8: Let’s Get Rid of Marriage Instead!

The death of marriage
6.  "Wouldn't marriage's death as a state institution, including for straight people, be the best solution? ...Scrap the civil register; make no distinction in the state's eyes between married and unmarried citizens."
-- Alex Gabriel,

Stoke the flames
7.  "Marriage is the proverbial burning building.  Instead of pounding on the door to be let in... queers should be stoking the flames!"
-- National Conference on Organized Resistance

Marriage erodes "freedom"
8.  "Marriage should not be a goal; it should be a choice. One choice available out of many recognized as valid by society. But it isn’t. Not yet. Right now, as far as society is concerned, you are married or you are not yet married. And as that notion becomes further codified our freedom to make other choices steadily erodes."
-- David McGee

A moral revolution
9.  "The gay movement, whether we acknowledge it or not, is not a civil rights movement, not even a sexual liberation movement, but a moral revolution aimed at changing people's view of homosexuality."
-- Paul Varnell,
Chicago Free Press

Abolish the family
10.  "We must aim at the abolition of the family, so that the sexist, male supremacist system can no longer be nurtured there."
-- Gay Liberation Front: Manifesto,
London, 1971, revised 1978

Transform society
11. “Being queer means pushing the parameters of sex and family, and in the process, transforming the very fabric of society. ... We must keep our eyes on the goal ... of radically reordering society’s views of reality." [source]
-- Paula Ettelbrick
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force

Marriage should not exist
12. "... fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we are going to do with marriage when we get there—because we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change, and that is a lie. The institution of marriage is going to change, and it should change. And again, I don’t think it should exist."
-- Masha Gessen, journalist
During a pannel discussion at the Sydney Writers Festival

These quotes combined with our popular post 10 Reasons Why Same-Sex "Marriage" is Harmful and Must be Opposed will give you ample information to more boldly defend the sacred institution of marriage.  For the future of the family, please post and tweet this article far and wide.

These people are quite literally the soldiers of Satan. As our Lord Jesus Christ said:
"Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit: and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
"A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit: neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit.
"Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit shall be cut down and shall be cast into the fire." (St. Matthew 7:17-19)
We can at least pray that they come to a change of heart before they join the branches ablaze in the fire.

Obviously tolerance and respect are a one way street. There is no way to the salvation of society but their way. Obviously they are clueless about nature and natural law. Even an Atheist should be able to see that society can only progress through the proper use of nature and an organized society that respects her laws.

I wish that were true ("0" population.) Unfortunately, with adoption, artificial reproduction and in bisexuality, it's not the case anymore. I also see how they are trying to indoctrinate in schools. Scary stuff. Ulimately God will prevail. Share the Truth and keep praying!

Let us be clear that there is no such thing as "gay." The evil one is adept at using language to confuse us. There is buggery and all manner of perversion, of course. And actions lead to habits, which in turn lead to character. So there are depraved people. But they can choose to stop their behavior, i.e., they are not "gay." Rather, they are people who engage in sodomy and encourage others to do the same. (Better that they cast themselves into the sea with a great millstone fastened to their necks.)

There is no such thing as same-sex "marriage" and there is no such thing as homophobia. Recognizing homosexuality for the perversion that it is not a phobia, it is just plain common sense.

What can we do except teach our children the truth, encourage others, love our spouses, and pray? The US is doomed because Washington will not stand fast against a Supreme Court that will not uphold the intent of the writers of the Constitution. They have no legal allegiance to the Bible. But, they should be loyal to the Constitution.

I am reminded of how harmless people thought the Nazi party was. Hitler was regarded as a buffoon. The gay agenda should have been thwarted from the get-go. As far as I am concerned it should still be illegal. Now look at the situation all around....moral decency dwindling by the day.

I know I'll probably draw some flak for this...but what would be so wrong with getting rid of any and all government involvement with marriage? Instead of marriage licenses having 'civil living' licenses. The Catholic Church already doesn't recognize 'Civil' marriages of a man and a woman, but only those vows made in a Church. What would be so wrong with getting rid of civil 'marriage' altogether and replacing it with some other sort of arrangement for two adults who want to live together, in a romantic sense or not, and calling it something other than a marriage license? It wouldn't change the validity of it as far as the Catholic Church is concerned. I'm not trying to be a troll, I'm genuinely curious.

Hi Gianna, These are good questions that we all need to be able to answer, from not just a religious perspective (which is true but has no weight with non-believers), but as you suggest a civil perspective. Since there is not room to address all the implications here, I would recommend reading the article, "What is Marriage?" published in the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy. http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1722155

Two other things to mention:
1) Homosexuals are not asking for civil unions, they want marriage. Ultimately if they are granted marriage, then marriage will have lost its true meaning and will no longer be different from civil unions. What your question proposes is to move to the end result faster - eliminate (i.e. destroy) civil marriage for everyone else and implement civil unions to avoid confrontation homosexuals.
2) As a Catholic, we also have to consider that it is a sin to enable others to sin.

The big problem I see would be the lack of protection for the Catholic woman who chooses to be married in the Church, and then has two or more children and opts out of the workforce to stay home with them. If her husband later deserts her, which unfortunately does happen even in Catholic marriages, she will have only the likely weak financial protection offered by the civil union. She is better off (though certainly not well-off) with the current presumption that the man should continue to support the family to whom he originally committed himself in marriage.

Interesting comment. I’ll explain, God created man and woman and marriage. Genesis Ch 2 it is the first/foundation of marriage. God's law says sex is only for marriage so the idea of living together would be against God's law. Marriage from God was a gift for mankind for a healthy functioning society. Marriage has a spiritual application attached to it and it is a blood covenant. 'God's perfect plan' for marriage. For children too. Why we say, “until death do us part” covenant is until death. This is why homosexuality is such an abomination to God and Christians. (Romans 1 vs18-32) Not personal against homosexuals; it is so far from what God designed for man/woman as something wonderful and healthy.
You might want to research covenant. Greatest covenant is death and resurrection of Christ, when you accept him as your personal savior you enter into a covenant with God.

When I went to school back in the 1930's we learned in our religion class that there are four sins that cry to heaven for vengeance.
1 murder
2 sodomy
3 not caring for children
4 getting out of paying a living wage for your children.
How does God, Our Heavenly Father see all the suffering that will result from same sex "marriage."

More diabolic is the perception that they are gaining ground.
Marriage is SACRED. One Male and one Female. God's will. All the rest is pure trash and diabolic doctrines.
If we allow the destruction of marriage we would allow the destruction of the Human Kind.

This is disturbing.

After spending a few minutes reading the accompanying article, and the quotes above, one is left to wonder where civilized society would be without marriage?

In my country, the same sex "marriage" issue has received a lot of attention lately. Some argue that in a 'progressive and tolerant' society like Australia, same sex "marriage" is long overdue, is well supported by the majority of the population, and should be legalized. This was after same sex "marriage" was made legal in New Zealand.

I've heard both sides of this debate. I see what has happened overseas, and I am very concerned of what the implications will be for Christians here.

True marriage is between a man and a woman. It is the Image of the Trinity especially when there are children. In those marriages where there are no children due to fertility problems or a disability, the couple can embrace others by helping poor children, adopting, providing help and materials to schools, etc. So called "gay marriages" are not marriages at all, nor are they unions of any sort. Sodomy is a perversion. Very few people are truly born with same sex attraction. Most "gay" people have been conditioned by society or environmental anomalies. "Being gay" is in vogue. The government cannot redefine marriage which is natural. Any other attempt to create a pair of individuals to try to be together in a same sex arrangement is immoral and unnatural. The Bible calls sodomy an abomination. It is definitely a perversion. It is sociopathilogical because it undermines society and makes it dysfunctional.

The world is in tribulation, all sorts of evil is being unleashed by Satan. I pray and hope when the time comes for God's punishment unleashed on this earth he will give his faithful ones a safe haven, for as Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for their wickedness, this time around I would not want to be around when that fateful day or night arrives as this time the full force will be unleashed.

I agree alanoli. I look forward to that safe haven too. I can see so many things going on in this world, the end times are here, and people are more defiant and flaunt their wickedness in front of God, without a care. The Good Book speaks of these things, and how mankind will despise God and His ways. Look around and see how we, as God's people, are being rejected, and those who don't know the Lord don't want His name to be spoken, or for us Christians to acknowledge Him at all. I believe God will put an end to it soon enough. I am ready.

Marriage should be between a man and a woman, if this was not the case. God would have created two of the same, and allowed them to reproduce. My God does not make mistakes. Therefore, to all those non believers, get ready, to face your maker. Because he is coming, and when he does, it will be too late to say, "father, please forgive me! Oh there is more than just religion here. The goals stated by these people are the same goals of socialists and communists. They view the strong family as their biggest obstacle to overcome. They want state control and the state to raise children.

A frightening thought indeed, of one of our most cherished freedoms being taken away. By abolishing marriage and the family you pave the way for state ownership and raising of your children. Is that what you really want?

This started out funny until I saw all of these ridiculous comments. I can not believe how many people seriously believe in this stuff. Same sex marriage is the future whether you like it or not. You might as well just embrace it and love everybody. Do you think that calling homosexuals sick and sad people is going to make your "God" proud? No you're all disappointments to the "God" you so desperately want to live for. You need to love everyone. Clearly the "devil" is not letting you give love and happiness to the world, and only hate. You're letting him win! You're hateful and miserable people. I personally live every day not judging people because of who they love and I am a very happy person. I don't constantly have to worry about other people's relationships. Live and let live, worry about your own lives and not the lives of others. If you don't believe in gay marriage, then don't marry somebody of the same sex. Your lives are not effected so get over it!

What scares me more than anything is the tolerance that the Church is allowing. From our Pope Francis to our parish priest homosexuals are to be welcomed! What has happened? Yes, God loved the sinners, and he tried to change them, unlike our Church of today. Our leaders today welcome them as they are and they can continue to be who they are. Wake up, profound, Catholic leaders and put a stop to the waywardness of the Catholic Church. Stand firm in the real teachings of the Church. Don't waver!!!
