10 Reasons to Reject Socialism

By TFP Student Action

Why we must protect the family, private property and America from the dangers of socialism.

1. Socialism and communism are the same ideology

Communism is but an extreme form of socialism. From the ideological standpoint, there is no substantial difference between the two. In fact, the communist Soviet Union called itself the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (1922-1991) and communist China, Cuba and Vietnam define themselves as socialist nations.

2. Socialism violates personal freedom

Socialism seeks to eliminate "injustice" by transferring rights and responsibilities from individuals and families to the State. In the process, socialism actually creates injustice. It destroys true liberty: the freedom to decide all matters that lie within our own competence and to follow the course shown by our reason, within the laws of morality, including the dictates of justice and charity.

3. Socialism violates human nature

Socialism is anti-natural. It destroys personal initiative – a fruit of our intellect and free will – and replaces it with State control. It tends to totalitarianism, with its government and police repression, wherever it is implemented.

4. Socialism violates private property

Socialism calls for "redistributing the wealth" by taking from the "rich" to give to the poor. It imposes taxes that punish those who have been able to take greater advantage of their productive talents, capacity to work or thrift. It uses taxation to promote economic and social egalitarianism, a goal that will be fully achieved, according to The Communist Manifesto, with the "abolition of private property."

5. Socialism opposes traditional marriage

Socialism sees no moral reason for people to restrict sex to marriage, that is, to an indissoluble union between a man and a woman. Furthermore, socialism undermines private property, which Friedrich Engels, founder of modern socialism and communism along with Karl Marx, saw as the foundation of traditional marriage.

6. Socialism opposes parental rights in education

Socialism has the State, and not parents, control the education of children. Almost from birth, children are to be handed over to public institutions, where they will be taught what the State wants, regardless of parental views. Evolution must be taught. School prayer must be forbidden.

7. Socialism promotes radical equality

A supposed absolute equality among men is the fundamental assumption of socialism. Therefore, it sees any inequality as unjust in itself. Private employers are quickly portrayed as "exploiters" whose profits really belong to their employees. As a consequence, they rule out the system of wage earning.

8. Socialism promotes atheism

Belief in God, who unlike us is infinite, omnipotent and omniscient, clashes head-on with the principle of absolute equality. Socialism therefore rejects the spiritual, claiming that only matter exists. God, the soul, and the next life are illusions according to socialism.

9. Socialism promotes relativism

For socialism there are no absolute truths or revealed morals that establish standards of conduct that apply to everyone, everywhere, and always. Everything evolves, including right and wrong, good and evil. There is no place for the Ten Commandments, neither in the private mind nor in the public square.

10. Socialism mocks religion

According to Karl Marx, religion is "the opium of the people." Lenin, founder of the Soviet Union, agreed: "Religion is opium for the people. Religion is a sort of spiritual booze in which the slaves of capital drown their human image, their demand for a life more or less worthy of man."

May God protect America from socialism.

I hate to say it, but I think that we are experiencing it here in the U.S.

I agree with you 100% Jarrod. God says we must go through more Hell until we get it. So many people just don't get that God is in charge, not the administration.

Any form of social, political, or religious imposition on the populous is a rejection of the Free Will endowed on each human person by our Creator. Whether it is Socialism, Communism, Radical Feminism, Human Secularism, or any other form of secular or governmental political correctness, these act as an intimidation on the freedom of thought, action, and communication thereby rendering impotent the full and free expression of the human soul.

Although undeserved, may God protect our country against the evils that lurk in the top places of our government. Let all who read about socialism kneel before Our Lady of Fatima and beg forgiveness for all the sins leading up to this day.

its the right of every man to work to earn a living.anything less than this is corruption and injustice. socialism must be condemned to limbo where it should remain chained.Talents are gifts from God (Truth, and everybody has talents according to their abilities.

On point 7, I would substitute "radical equality" (not easily defined) with "equality of outcome". Socialism promotes equality of outcome, instead of equality of opportunity and assumes that people who are better off somehow must have exploited someone else.

You forgot three more comments.

The main difference between Socialism and Communism is that with socialism you get to vote in the people who take most of your paycheck.

Socialism is like shoplifting. Someone is getting something for free that they didn't have to work for, and the rest of us end up paying for it.

All you have to do is look at North and South Korea to determine which system works. The closer you get to Communism, the worse your economy will get. Socialism is only one step away. The closer you get to pure capitalism, self reliance, and self sufficiency, the more prosperous your country will become.

The socialist media have fed Americans a steady diet of fear of racism. That's how the socialist Obama got elected. Racism isn't the problem, Socialism is. Any politician who is socialist should be rejected out of hand, regardless of their religion, race or gender.

When will we realize that we are emphasizing the wrong 'R'? We have been force-fed for a long time on this drivel. We need to accept Responsibility for our own lives, actions, etc, rather than demand our Rights.

We have a choice -- return to God and the natural law that states that all of our rights come from God, not government, nor any man. Or, continue down a road that is annihilation for this nation and people of faith.
May the Mother of God protect us, and may Christ have mercy on us!

When enough people start living the Fatima message, and the Holy Father consecrates Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary (as requested!)Our Lady promises a period of peace. Until that marvelous day happens, our great country (along with the rest of the world) will (unfortunately and needlessly!) continue the downward spiral into the Godless socialist morass we seem to be yearning for.

Socialism has also crept into the Church and is being proclaimed by the Left as actually a teaching of Christ's evidenced by the way that first century Christians lived in community. For two years while I was in discernment to join an order of the Church, I lived and worked in so-called Catholic Worker communities. What I found there was atheism, moral relativism, and Karl Marx, all presented as the Gospel of Our Lord. This is one reason why your work is so important. There are those out there now who would distort the Gospels to achieve what are essentially a socialist political agenda. God speed you on your work.

Far too many college professors push Communism as if it was the best path for our country, however; too few of them use "real-life" examples of the very dismal outcome. They need to be challenged with questions that bring up solid examples. PRAY to end Abortion. When we end the killing of innocent children in this Country, we will see more healing, wisdom, and the grace of God returning.

Captalism coupled with monoply can be hell on earth. Also, this combination can be fertile land for extreme revolt against capitalism. The Middle east dictatorship can be a good example of this.
Question: How can we discribe the economic status of the Early Church accordig to the book of Act. Thanks. and God Bless

Socialism is equality--only in equal misery for all. Ever notice people try to flee socialist countries but do not try to flee the U.S.? Those politicians currently pushing this agenda would have no trouble with us becoming a third world nation with everyone dirt poor and 'getting rid of' the sick and elderly via their legislation and mandates. Their "map" to do this is becoming glaringly clear.

By asserting that "Socialism and communism are the same ideology," this article hides the fact that both fascism and communism are varieties of socialism — the Nazis were "national socialists." Now, by ignoring that most of the dangers of communism are also present in the fascist ideology, the article becomes disingenuous. Most likely, the reason for this is because of the Vatican's cozy relationship with the Nazis and other fascists.

The view expressed in this article is particularly dangerous, because currently the most grave danger that we face is not communism, but fascism. People who attack Obama calling him a communist, apparently ignore that the man in the White House is just a puppet of Wall Street bankers, oil magnates and transnational corporations. It is difficult to believe even for a moment that these people are communists.

This is ridiculous. First of all, communism and socialism are not the same. Second of all, you don't even give any warrants as to why that would be a bad thing. Third of all, you very obviously know next to nothing about the realities of socialism, or the realities of the political sphere. Fourth of all, most of your points ("sanctity of marriage" etc) are either reasons FOR socialism or actual moral opinions, and if you don't want the government interfering with your business, stop trying to legislate morality. You're all ridiculous!

First of all, China defines itself as a SOCALIST state! it's communist

Second of all, socialism takes away your personal freedoms (and initiative) and taxes you to death!

Third of all, look at Cuba today! That's the "reality" of Socialism right there!

Fourth of all, the PEOPLE legislate what the People want to legislate! and we have the RIGHT to believe and legislate!

All this lies on a scale of persons' control to peoples' control. Capitalism is the government leaving economy un-interfered. Socialism is like boring capitalism where the people up top want everyone else to be at the same height. Communism is like tribal living, but much more difficult given the population of cities. Serving yourself is serving your community, laws and money are not truly needed as people act bona fide, and have some sort of need that makes them work together and not betray. That used to be human survival, but in modern attempts it's been some sort of equality enforcement, and that's what's lame about communism.

This article is from someone who is conservative, which results to an inaccurate article. Conservatives are known to be the "cancer" of America (I'm expressing my own opinion!).

Social democracy isn't that bad. It's so much better than "conservatism". It's good because it's a democracy, but it has some parts of socialism (like free education and gender equality). That's why social democracy does work. But I do agree though that communism does not work.
