Prayer to Our Lady for College Students

By Saint Thomas Aquinas
Our Lady Seat of Wisdom

Our Lady Seat of Wisdom,
pray for us!

O Mary, Seat of Wisdom, so many persons of common intellect have made through thy intercession admirable progress in their studies. I hereby choose thee as guardian and patron of my studies. I humbly ask thee to obtain for me the grace of the Holy Spirit, so that from now on I could
  • understand more quickly,
  • retain more readily, and
  • express myself more fluently.
May the example of my life serve to honor thee and thy Son, Jesus.

Amen.

@ Brother Kevin, et.al ~ If anyone wishes to keep others in mind (namely my son Ryan :) when reciting The Prayer to Our Lady of College Students, I think this would be a great way to help and support young students everywhere. Please remember others in our daily prayers. Peace, Carleen

This is a prayer that should be taught to all students who wish to honor Our Lord and Our Lady in their studies. Thank you Mother for this Prayer.

Thank you for offering these powerful and precious prayers for the young men and women of America and the whole world.

May I add a blessing: I bless all the young men and women, students and non-students alike, with the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary's blessing and be called to Personal Holiness. Amen

I LOVE the "Thee"s and "Thou"s... it makes the prayer even more reverential and respectful by honoring Our Lady with the most eloquent of terms.

When I was a boy living in Montana back in c. 1943 to 1955, I don't think I realized that Mother Mary was a.k.a. Our Lady of Guadeloupe, i.e., Patroness of the Americas. I mean she is not just Patroness of Mexico, or South America, or whatever, but of North America, as well. All peoples respect her. She is real, and not just, e.g., a prayer card.

We start every class with a prayer and I'm always on the look-out for new ones. This is beautiful. I'll probably change the thee's and thou's to 'you' and 'yours' but I think my students will like it very much. Thank you!

Are there any prayers for teachers? I am having a very difficult year with behavior problems and I often lose my temper and then regret having done so. I need a prayer for patience and understanding. Thanks!

I was looking for a Catholic prayer to pray before I study and I am so happy that Mother Mary showed me this website and found this prayer! It is absolutely beautiful like Our Lady of Wisdom.
