Breaking video: Man attacks TFP volunteers, assaults American flag

Free speech is less free in Arkansas.  In fact, volunteers with Tradition Family and Property (TFP—Louisiana) were recently attacked in Little Rock during a peaceful rally against Obamacare and its HHS mandate.  The incident occurred on July 17.

Man Targets American flag

At the McCain Mall in North Little Rock, a middle-aged man came up from behind the group as they calmly prayed the rosary. First he said, “Praise be Mary,” giving the impression he was friendly.  Next he shouted, “Get the hell out of here!” and rushed our American flag bearer Elias Bartel, knocking him off his feet with a violent blow.  Old Glory fell over, but not completely because the 19-foot flag pole caught a power line on the way down and was quickly recovered and set upright again.

“I was pretty shocked…  The first thing he did was target the American flag.  He wanted to throw it on the ground,” said Bartel. “What he did was beyond disrespect.”

Second attack

The attacker did not stop there.  Without pause, he immediately assaulted our second volunteer, Jesus Guerra, who was holding the TFP banner which displays a rampant lion and the motto:  “Tradition, Family, and Property.”  As the video clearly shows, our young volunteer was pushed with such violence that he fell backward onto a fire hydrant.  The banner also fell.

“I’m bruised, but not about to give up,” Guerra remarked.  “The attacker’s behavior reflects the socialist mindset:  if they can’t win the debate, they bully you. If they can’t silence the Church on moral values, they use mandates and intimidation.”

As TFP—Louisiana member Cesar Franco dialed 911, the assailant smacked the phone out of his hand.  Finally, the police arrived and a report was made.

A woman who witnessed the attack approached and asked for a flyer, Confronting Religious Persecution in America.  She told Zechariah Long how great she thought TFP volunteers responded to the aggressor.

The 14-member team is currently touring other Southern cities where the reception has been excellent.  Their message alerts the public about the persecution being brought against the Catholic Church by the Health and Human Services mandate and points to the root problem: socialism.

Following the example set by Bishop Jenky of Peoria, Illinois, who called upon Saint Michael the Archangel in the fight for the rights of the Church, TFP—Louisiana volunteers have placed their tour under his powerful patronage.  The attack did not hinder the progress of the TFP caravan. However, it does follow a troubling pattern documented in the video Attacked by “Tolerance.”

If you are an attorney in the Little Rock, and are willing to represent the TFP volunteers who were attacked, please contact Cesar Franco at [email protected]

This is to the young men assaulted. Call the police and provide the video. Demand a report be written for battery and tell them you want to press charges. You have his license and his image on video, so the coward will be easy for the police to locate. Press charges and pursue justice. Keep up the good work. The majority in this country is behind you!

Yes Jeff, that's how I feel about this
unprovoked work of the evil man who is an agent of satan himself. But since we
are followers of one greater than any power anywhere, what harm can come to us?
So lets not get upset over such annoying
incidents, but revoke Divine Assistance to deal with them. God Bless you.

These brave men TFP are heroes and those who sit idly by as couch potato Americans and who do not join them on the front lines are to be scorned. The enemies of life and liberty are emboldened. The only reason we are in this sad state of affairs is that good men have done and said nothing for far too long. If you are not going to get off of the couch at very least support TFP with your donations. We have met the enemy and he is us. You TFP guys are my heroes. A loud shout out from NYC the belly of the beast. Don't like gays in the military? They are there because of our cowardice and silence. Talk about a Trojan Horse. Money says this guy is a local cop - LEO. Haircut, attitude, voice and lack of any follow-up when reported to local police.

Look for the Union Label at the local cop shop and you will find either this guy or people who know exactly who this guy is.

Where is it written that your mom should be thanked and held in high esteem for being YOUR mom, but we should and we do. For blindly saying YES to God the Father without hesitation; for being the mother of God the Son; for being the spouse of God the Holy Spirit - she is loved and venerated, not worshiped. All prayers of the rosary come from the bible. We ask for intercession, as she interceded in the wedding of Caana. Revelations is full of examples of intercessory prayer and have u not read "there appeared a woman.... With her heal crushing the head of the serpent"? Peace and may our Risen Lord bless u and yours abundantly.

Please share with us the verse in the Bible where it says that we are to only believe what is written in the Bible. i.e. Only believe what you read in the Bible except the statement to "only believe what is written the Bible". Hint: It isn't in the Bible. Nowhere! In fact.... ....."Hold fast to these teachings you received in writing or orally" 2 Thessalonians 2:15. (paraphrased. Question??? Biblically speaking, what is the pillar and foundation of the truth? Hint: It isn't the Bible! Nope! According 1 Timothy 3:15 the Church is the pillar (or bulwark) and foundation of the Faith.
Lastly, what is the 4th Commandment? Hint: The Hebrew word for "honor" is translated here "glorify". As in "glorify your father and mother." Who do you think best exemplifies this commandment?
Jesus perhaps? He certainly glorified His Father. Are we supposed to follow His example? Whose DNA do you suppose is in Jesus' body? Fully God. Fully man.

Before I answer your question, allow me to propose a challenge to you. Where does the bible say everything we believe and do must be found in the bible, and how do you know which books belong in the bible apart from tradition? I assert Sola Scriptura is itself a non-biblical man made tradition developed in the 16th century.

Luke Chapter 1 - Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit,

cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women"

"from now on will all ages call me blessed"

John 19: Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

"Honor your father and mother"

2nd part
Revelation 12:1 a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

who is this woman? She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod.* Her child was caught up to God and his throne.

Sounds like the mother of our Lord to me and not just me but most of the early church fathers who were passing on the tradition before the New Testament was formally canonized, But I doubt you will accept my biblical exegesis or the testimony of the early church fathers. The fallacy of your question, even though "biblical evidence" is provided for the practice, you do not accept as a "biblical" practice, because it does not fit your own theological TRADITION.

Do you believe Jesus is greater than Solomon ( I hope so he says he is), then read 1 Kings 2:19

May God the father bless you

Prayer beads like the constellations of the Jewish Mazzaroth that led the magi to worship Christ (2 Kings 23:3-5; Job 38:32-33) for worship of the Trinitarian Creator God of the Word of God found in the Bible (e.g., rosary large beads the Our Father [Matthew 6:5-15] and small beads Mary's Song of Praise: The Magnificat [Luke 1:46-55]). In Luke Chapter 11, Jesus teaches His disciples more about His template for personal and corporate prayer. Verses 27-28 say, "As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, 'Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.' He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.'" Christians who worship the Lord God Almighty (Exodus 20:1-17) are honestly to love one another (1 Corinthians 8:1-2 & 12:1-13:13).

We do not glorify Mary, we honor her. The Commandments tell us to Honor our Father and our Mother. The Rosary is made up of mysteries (happenings) from the Bible beginning with the Angel announcing the birth of Jesus to Mary and ending with Mary's reward in Heaven. Most are centered on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. PTL

Hey Joe regarding glorifying Mary open your Bible and read Luke 1:46-55. That is referred to as Mary's Magnificat. It's a beautiful prayer. It starts off with this, "[46] And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord. [47] And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. [48] Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed." And all generations from that time have called Mary blessed.

Regarding the Rosary it was given to St. Dominic (1170 – 1221) from heaven back when your ancestors were still Catholic (or possibly pagan).

Jesus taught us to honor our mother and father. So logic bring us to the conclusion that we should honor His Mother and Father as well. Jesus made it a point , while hanging on the cross, to share His mother with us, this is why we call on her as our Lady. She is our mother too.

What must be understood is that praying to Mary is to address her as an intercessor with Her Son and to glorify God through what He worked in her and through her. If the Bible is inspired, it is evident Christ wanted His mother recognized and revered by all Christians throughout time. It was through her intercession that Christ performed His first miracle at Cana, thereby effectively beginning His ministry even when He Himself told her that it was not yet His time. It was Mary alone who displayed heroic virtue by always believing in the mission of her Son as well as His divinity and prophecy. For the above reasons and many more, devotion to Mary developed into a variety of prayers and devotions in order to venerate her name and accomplishments and thus glorify God through her, as the Bible foretold would happen, and to ask for her intercession.

When you pray the rosary, you are contemplating Jesus' life, it's biblical.
When Mary visits Elizabeth (Elizabeth, inspired by the Holy Spirit says,"Hail Mary, Blessed are you among women and blessed is thy fruit of your womb Jesus". What is "Blessed" Joe? It means full of God's grace. "Hail" that's how they addressed royalty. She is our Queen, we do not glorify her, we venerate her and give her the same respect God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit give her, for doing His will.
Joe are you doing God's will?

To Joe:

I suspect you see yourself favorably and stink of a self-congratulating attitude after making comments liket you made, common to liberal progressives. You may think you're shrewd in your thinking by attempting to "debunk" faith and prayer to Mary (and probably Christianity in general), but you excluded incorporating the simplest fact: People with FAITH naturally offer and give thanks and praise to those people or things they have in their lives that are good (or sometimes hardships---crosses to bear which strengthen their character).

+10 # Kevin Rerko 2012-07-27 12:36
Does not the Bible teach us to Honor our Father and Mother? So therefore he opens the door to us imperfect creatures to give praise and honor others outside of Himself. As the mother of Jesus, even children are compelled without prompting, to give homage to her because it seems the right thing to do. Because of her obvious relationship to God as the vessel for Christ to enter this world, a fact in itself worthy of emulation, we love her.
Reply | Reply with quote | Quote
+10 # Kevin Rerko 2012-07-27 12:39
We reflect in part through prayer through the Rosary that we recognize her profound grief and the sorrow she suffered seeing her child, The Lamb of God, scourged, beaten and tortured, ridiculed (much like that you do in a thinly veiled attempted to discredit prayer), and brought to death. For her suffering and in her glory, we offer up to her praise. Even for those not of faith in God, this is a natural compulsion for those with a reflective mind and wholesome heart. It is in alignment with the fact that God favors her as well.

In light of these facts, people like you spend time to make feeble attempts to deconstruct the desire fof others to "pray the Rosary." Progressive-liberalism is a sad illness because it breaks down society, law, and human spirit.

If he has not been brought in and the police are not cooperating bring the video to the local FOX news station. I'm sure they will pursue this. If necessary contact the national Fox network.
Unless this is stopped someone will be seriously injured. No one wants that.
As a former police officer I hope this person was not in anyway connected with local law enforcement.

It is evident that martyrdom for Catholics is not too distant, as the world is totally against our Lord and those who follow Him. Is an honour to defend and stand for our moral values and Catholic faith. Legal action should be pursued against the bacon thug who attacked the TFP members; however the world is in such a crisis, that the corrupted system will probably protect the attacker and could even condemn the victims.

TFP should consider as a matter of policy, posting up whatever information they can garner on the attacker. (this and the undoubtedly future ones) I think it is important that this person's peers, neighbors, co-workers, employer, and wife have the opportunity to see this man's actions. Then people can decide whether or not they want to associate with someone who behave in this way. The posting for "Name", simply demonstrates cowardice. Not even enough conviction to use their real first name... You, "Name" are part of the problem.

While I agree with the non violent response at the time of the attack and commend your group for self control and non escalation. I think it is imperative that this person simply be identified. His actions need to rain shame upon him. Releasing his name and info lends credibility to the video (in this most cynical of ages, some may consider this video an attempt to draw attention to the group and it's goals / mission) By releasing the information you have regarding this attacker, civilized society can universally condemn his actions and shame him. turn the other cheek, after justice is served. If local law enforcement refuses to pursue, I think it is reasonable for this person to "own" his actions and the people who watch can decide whether or not his actions deserve their support or condemnation.
