Hundreds of thousands from around the nation
gathered for the 40th March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 25.  The yearly event commemorates the anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision which legalized abortion on demand.

Despite the freezing conditions and snow, an immense crowd could be seen in all directions, composed mostly of young people full of enthusiasm for the cause of the unborn and the future of the family.  A veritable sea of banners and signs from groups around the nation blanketed the National Mall as the opening rally began Friday afternoon.

The International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima graced the 40th March for Life in Washington, D.C. with her maternal gaze.

As the massive sea of humanity made its way up Capitol Hill to the steps of the Supreme Court, members of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP) marched with red standards flying, and the ever-popular marching band, complete with brass, bagpipes and drums to encourage the crowd.  International delegations of sister TFPs from Belgium, Germany and Italy joined the march.

The events of the day were a tribute to the life of Miss Nellie Gray, foundress of the March for Life, underscoring the need for new leaders in the fight against the sin of abortion, as well as renewed perseverance and confidence in this noble struggle.

This year’s March comes amid a flurry of pro-life activity around the country, including a remarkable upswing of well attended local marches from coast to coast.

Piping on Capitol Hill to make abortion unthinkable.

The Fight of 40 Years: Perseverance Bearing Fruit

Two weeks prior to the March, the leadership of Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider, announced they would no longer be using the term ‘pro-choice.’  Americans today rightly see pro-choice as being pro-abortion, contrasting with the growing number of Americans, especially youth, who reject the sin of abortion and identify themselves as pro-life.

This news comes as a growing number of states have succeeded in defunding Planned Parenthood. Ten states have successfully ended funding for the abortion giant, with many more plans to do so in other states during the legislative sessions of 2013. The amount of taxpayer dollars from the above mentioned states alone which are no longer going to fund abortion amounts to more than $60 million.

March for Life and TFP habits

As pro-life efforts in states around the nation meet with increasing success, one columnist went so far as to label 2012 a ‘disaster for abortion rights.’  The cover story for the January 14 issue of Time Magazine, no friend of the right to life cause, published the very telling headline:

“40 years ago, abortion-rights activists won an epic victory with Roe vs. Wade. They’ve been losing ever since.”

All of this coincides with the resignation of Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. The main reason Keenan gave for stepping down from her position, reports The Washington Post, was a lack of young pro-abortion activists. This reiterates what many in the pro-life movement have known for a long time: aging pro-abortion activists are trying to force the sin of abortion on a generation that is increasingly rejecting it.

Saint Michael the Archangel: Angelic Chivalry to Lead the Fight

Saint Michael
Saint Michael the
Archangel, pray for us.

Members of the American TFP and its America Needs Fatima campaign were out in force at this year’s March to distribute a flyer titled “Saint Michael the Archangel and the Pro-Life Victory.” This flyer was warmly received, with thousands and thousands handed out over the course of the day. Many intended to take advantage of the attached offer for a free St. Michael Chaplet.

As America is threatened by enemies both internal and external, we know the great battle before us cannot be won by mere human efforts. Devotion to Saint Michael in the highest degree will ensure victory not just in the fight against abortion, but in the battle for America’s soul, the spiritual combat of the 21st century. As the forces of darkness increase their efforts to destroy all that remains of good in America, let us increase our confidence all the more in the certain victory of the Prince of the Heavenly Armies.

As this 40th March for Life falls on the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle, let us pray that America become like a new Saint Paul, zealously fighting all the errors she has promoted, and the instrument of extraordinary grace in the restoration of Christian civilization.

I'm so happy to see that so many pro-life people showed up in DC. Shame on the Media that fail again to show the American people important news such as the March for Life.

I read your article and viewed the video only to be very impressed by the youth not being afraid to voice their convictions. I join my prayers to yours in requesting an end to abortion and asking for Saint Michael's protection over the unborn and the pro-life movement.

Once again the commercial media outlets deprive the viewers of America, and the world, of a demonstration of public fervor concerning this critical issue.
God Bless your spokesperson who illuminated that it's God's watching you, not the media, that fuels your inspirations.

This video should be broadcast on every
T.V. network, and passed on to everyone
in the internet. Of course, we know the
liberal networks will not show it, so keep praying that enough people will see it, and hope we will see change for the good in this country, before it it too late. God Bless us all.

I was at the West Coast - San Francisco Walk For Life; it was refreshing being there, being with people with strong values. =]

I also created the image for my parish's Catholic radio station for said March; for those familiar with said station, I'm glad you liked it!

Loving our Pro-Life progress so far.

I was there at the March, and it appears as if the crowd is getting younger and younger. In addition, the mainstream media refuses to acknowledge the March. Need evidence? New York's largest Daily Paper the Daily News did not even mention the March. On Saturday, a group of "almost 1,000" protesters marched from the Capitol to the Washington Monument for gun control. Well that made page 5. What some New Yorkers are talking about is bringing the March or a March to New York City. I support this concept, let's show the country and the world that 55 million dead is 55 million too many!!!!

The charming young women in the video used the "It's a human" argument. True, of course. But, read the recent Solon article in which the humanity of the fetus is agree to. The author says: So what if the fetus is human....kill it anyway if you want to.

How will that be countered in argument? Check out Dr. Singer....his ideas are becoming more mainstream. We are in significantly more dangerous times.

Don't hold you breath waiting for "Modernist" priests to speak out A.M.Canty - they aren't speaking from the Deposit of Faith as Traditional Priest are. Therefore we must do what we Know we must and we must get rid of contraception also.

We in the United Kingdom were also with you in spirit and the praying of the rosary. The presence of the Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Famima will bring abundance of graces to those who followed Her on the March for Life.
St Michael the Archangel will be our champion and be at the head of the armies to defend the right to life for all unborn babies.

I attended the March for Life again this year. I'm going on 66 years old, and God willing, I will march until my body gives out and I can march no more. At that time I will be marching in spirit, but I WILL march, until a Human Life Amendment is passed, making abortion illegal. Semper Fi

Wonderful youthful America. No wonder the old pro-aborts are dying out. Pity the leftist media, they are mentally censored and have no spine or appetite for truth. They are the same here in Sydney, Australia. The main stream media ignores the Day of the Unborn march in the city as they do the Eucharistic Procession. I have posted this vid. to Facebook. Hope others see it too.

I am very heartened to see this wonderful video showing so many people marching and speaking their minds and hearts regarding preserving life rather than aborting it....my prayers are always said for the unborn, that their mother's can see the preciousness of their unborn children and choose life for them.

The tide is turning, the wheels of motion are once again turning and this time it's turning for the right to life.
The blood of the martyr's have been crying out for decades, now they are heard, soon the old ways will no longer be, enter life instead.

Great video from the U.S Great also to see the word sin making a comeback. Far too many children have needlessly died..... A voice is heard in RamAh. Lamenting and weeping bitterly: it is Rachel weeping for her children, because they are no more. Yahew says this: Stop your lamenting, dry your eyes, for your labour will have a reward, ....There is Hope for the future after all. Jeremiah 31 God bless America.

I was hoping this would be a video I could share on my organization's facebook page and website, but it is purely convinced Catholics speaking to other convinced Catholics. It shouts the message: Abortion is only a religious, Catholic concern! Unborn children will never be protected by law if people understand abortion as a religious issue. And "minds and hearts" will always be ambivalent abortion abortion until it is made illegal.

I was at the march. The best thing to see are all the young people out there they are what is going to turn this whole thing around. Also people have to not just march 1 time a year we have got to be at this 24/7 365. If we don't stand up for life who will .The only way we will win this fight is keep up the good fight. One thing for sure, God is on our side for that I am sure.

Been there, done that! It's the Mecca of the Right to Life movement. All faiths, all humans respecting God's greatest creation: the HUMAN being, made as a likeness of the Master. Thank you, Lord, and thank you Nellie Gray. You lived His Word - as His instrument - and will be spiritually with the masses of people who turn out every successive year - until it is no longer needed. Alleluia.

A recent news item documented the 50 millionth abortion in America. As a nation, we keep electing representatives who have no self respect, but scorn themselves and the electorate, so how can we expect them to respect the unborn? America once deserved G-D's blessing, but now, having awfully transgressed "Thou Shalt Not Kill," which means don't murder, since self-defense is Biblically ordained, we've earned terrible punishment for these fifty million murders. Sodom was destroyed for legalizing evil. No wonder Washington seems intent on tearing up the Constitution: Its G-D fearing authors would today be slandered by the media and targeted for ruin by our officials.

This is so great and consoling. At first I thought that I was defeated in my fight against abortion. Whoa, God is ruling the nation, and I am so confident that the innocents are crying and Our Merciful God has heard their cry. Very soon this topic will die not only a natural death but an unthinkable death. Congratulations to you all our representatives in this marching.

I was there & attended Liturgy at the Basilica prior to the March. It was all such a moving experience. I, too, was encouraged by the number of young people and males (of all ages) who attended, not to mention, the number of Seniors braving the weather. It was such a show of faith, hope & courage.

This video brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face. Thank you so much for posting it. I wish I could have been there in person but I was with you in spirit and prayer. For those that may read this and are feeling discouraged, please know that the younger generation is prepared to fight this evil to our last breath....we will keep it up until we have talked to every mother walking up to a clinic and all that call crisis centers. There are far too many who, like me, felt that for whatever reason, abortion was our best option and have felt the deepest pain humanly possible through the remorse and mourning of the lives of our children taken by the one person who was meant to protect them, their mothers. That pain never goes away and it fuels us to do whatever we can to ensure that our babies did not lose their lives in vain. That has become my life's purpose along with those who share this same pain.

Think of our Lord, the eternal Being. He designed then created a home for us - Let their be light. Our crimes (sins) offend. We get what we deserve - wars and suffering by our own hand.
We frustrate His eternal plan by killing millions created for His purposes. We will soon be destroyed by His Divine Will.
